Laura Vogt’s IN THE GREAT QUIET, a sweeping, atmospheric historical novel in the tradition of COLD MOUNTAIN and THE FOUR WINDS, has been acquired by Lake Union Publishing. Chantelle Aimee Osman bought world rights from Catherine Cho at Paper Literary, and Emily Freidenrich has taken over as editor.
Inspired by the true story of the author’s great-great-grandparents, this debut novel follows a female pioneer into the Oklahoma prairie of 1893 as she withstands wild animals, freezing winters, and outlaws, but the biggest danger is to her heart as she confronts her own past.
IN THE GREAT QUIET will publish in 2026.
